  4. The current rush for operators to include Amazon Prime Video in their offer has spread to Spain. Orange has reached an agreement to incorporate Amazon Prime into its Android-based 4K HDR decoder. Users need only to enter their Amazon password. Orange says the agreement allows it to continue its strategy of always making available to its customers the best premium television content in the market. Orange’s Android decoder includes voice search and is also integrated with Chromecast. The service also includes cloud-based recording Start Over and a video store. View the full article
  5. The combined Swedish TV market is now worth SEK 25.3 billion a year, according to Mediavision. The Stockholm-based consultancy says SVOD and AVOD continue to act as the main drivers – the other elements are pay-TV, advertising, distribution and the licence fee. The Swedish TV market peaked in 2018, up from SEK 23.4 billion in 2017, representing an 8% increase. “While the traditional pay TV market decreased slightly, the SVOD market continues to accelerate – acting as the main driving force. Looking ahead, Mediavision estimates SVOD revenues to surpass public service sometime during 2019,” Mediavision said in its April newsletter.   14. Catch up content Horror Bites and CBS Catchup Channels UK from Horror Channel, CBS Reality, CBS Justice and CBS Drama are now available to YouView households. The two services will be available to TalkTalk and BT users of the telco-led platform. Viewers will be able to catch up on shows from Horror Channel, CBS Reality, CBS Drama and CBS Justice up to 30 days after broadcast, and will also be able to access on-demand content The players join other premium on-demand services on the platform including Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and Now TV. Tanya Gugenheim, SVP, Business Development, AMC Networks International said, “This launch is part of our strategy to accelerate the availability of our strong and popular drama, true crime and entertainment content on new platforms, and we’re excited to be able to provide YouView’s audience with our diverse programming on-demand.” David Faulkner, Head of Corporate and Business Development, YouView added: “It’s great to welcome on board both Horror Bites and CBS Catchup Channels UK to YouView’s on-demand services.   15. A1 Telekom Austria expanded the TV business in all its CEE markets in the year to March 31. In Belarus, the total number of TV RGUs stood at 398,400 at the end of Q1, up from 258,900 a year earlier, thanks largely to the acquisition of Vitebsk Garnat, consolidated in May 2018. However, the Q1 figure was down from the 408,100 posted at the end of last year. In Bulgaria and Croatia, two of A1’s longest-established TV markets, it ended Q1 with 508,400 and 235,600 TV RGUs respectively, up from 488,100 and 213,900 a year earlier. Elsewhere, the number of TV RGUs in Slovenia grew from 54,200 to 62,700 in to March 31 and in North Macedonia from 123,500 to 130,400. In its home market Austria, the number of TV RGUs increased from 302,000 to 316,400. A1 Telekom Austria Group had total revenues of €1,089.5 million (+1.5%) in Q1.
